RE-INCITE is a transnational project within the framework of the Interreg Alpine Space Programme that aims to advance the implementation of circular value creation in the Alpine region. The focus is on converting industrial residues into secondary materials (SM) to reduce CO₂ emissions and reduce dependence on primary raw materials. RE-INCITE overcomes previous hurdles by focusing on local residue supply and the demand for SMs. Industry experts from participating clusters share their specific knowledge with local and regional authorities. The aim is to establish a new, cross-sectoral and cross-border governance model that serves as a model for connecting clusters and municipalities and supports the implementation of regional strategies for circular value creation.

Many Alpine regions have already developed strategies for circular value creation, but face challenges in their practical implementation. Individual companies often consider their value chains and waste streams to be optimized and see higher costs in SMs compared to primary materials. This is where RE-INCITE comes in: By integrating clusters as knowledge brokers and multipliers, companies and municipalities are to be sensitized to the advantages of circular value creation and encouraged to rethink. The cities of Stuttgart (Germany), Basel (Switzerland), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and other partner municipalities act as model regions to test and implement innovative approaches to circular value creation.
